Waking up at 3:30 is never easy, but it is always worth it. We had an early morning, but I made the drive to Estes Park with time to spare before the sun was set to rise. After mentally preparing for the cold, we got out of the car and scoped out a spot to watch the sunrise over Bear Lake. It was a quiet sunrise, with only a little bit of color, but RMNP makes everything surreally beautiful.

Alpenglow on Hallett Peak. I could have a love affair with alpenglow.
